FOTW: Great grey owls live nomadic lifestyles to follow and adapt to the life cycle of its prey: voles. They opportunistically select their breeding sites based on prey availability. The largest owl in the world, the great grey owl can be found in the boreal forests across the northern hemisphere. This particular individual can be seen at the RZSS Highland Wildlife Park, Scotland. (S)he was a wonderful distraction whilst I was filming for my final year university project. The great grey owl recently featured on Gordon Buchanan's BBC documentary 'Life in the Snow'.
