Wildlife Warriors welcome this Easter at RZSS Highland Wildlife Park

10/04/2017 in Highland Wildlife Park

For the first time ever RZSS Highland Wildlife Park is launching its very own trail.

Visitors are invited to come along this Easter and become a wildlife warrior by tackling the Highland Wildlife Warrior Trail. Participants will be taken on a journey of discovery that features six native and formerly native species at trail points across the site. They will also learn about each of their individual characteristics and some interesting facts along the way.

At each trail point visitors collect a stamp for each of the animals in their wildlife warrior logbook. Once all have been collected they will unlock the Warrior’s Code to uncover how they can play a role in supporting native wildlife.

Visitors will find out about red deer, lynx, wolves, red squirrels, wildcats and beavers and see what small changes they can make to have a big impact on the wildlife all around them.

Daska Mackintosh, Head of Operations and Visitor Experience at RZSS Highland Wildlife Park, said: “RZSS Highland Wildlife Park has long been the place to get up close to some of Scotland’s most spectacular wildlife, and this new Highland Wildlife Warrior Trail only adds to the mix. In addition to offering a fun and energetic activity for kids of all ages, it also helps raise awareness of the threats faced by our native species and what can be done to help them.”

The Highland Wildlife Park will also be hosting a fun range of Easter activities including face painting, egg painting, bunny mazes and more. During the Easter holidays children will also have the opportunity to climb inside a replica polar bear den to see how they size up against some of the Parks most famous residents: Walker, Arktos and Victoria.

Trails are £1 and are free to members and you can pick up your wildlife warrior log book from the visitor centre.
