Animal Adoption

A Wild Gift Idea!

Animal Adoption is a fun and unusual gift idea for any of your friends and family.  It doesn’t require batteries, doesn’t’ break and doesn’t go out of fashion – but it does last a whole year!

With approximately 100 different animal species in our parks to choose from, there’s an animal to suit everyone’s personality and taste!  For a minimum donation of just £40 you can adopt any animal species, at any level, for a whole year – for example a rhino costs no more than a penguin!  Simply choose which animal you would like to adopt and then select your adoption level and donation.

The deadline for receiving animal adoption applications and guaranteeing packs being received in time for Christmas was Friday 5 December.  Although it is now too late to ensure your gift pack will be delivered in time for Christmas, please note that it will be processed and issued as quickly as possible.

Animals available for adoption

Adoption Levels

Bronze – £40 to £74

• certificate suitable for framing
• fact sheet on your adopted species
• opportunities to come along to adopter events
• Lifelinks colour magazine three times throughout the year
• colourful stickers
• adopter's badge

Silver – £75 to £149

• as Bronze, plus
• name listed at enclosure
• car window sticker

Gold – £150 to £499

• as Silver, plus
• name listed in the Annual Review
• one year’s RZSS Membership for one named person

Platinum – £500+

• as Gold, plus
• one year’s RZSS Membership for another named person
• invitation to Platinum Adopter Event

We aim to process packs within ten working days once the application form has been received.  If your pack is for a Christmas gift please order by Friday 5 December to guarantee UK delivery.

Adoption Terms & Conditions

• Adoption benefits may be subject to change.
• Our animal collection is always evolving, therefore if your adopted species is withdrawn from our collection then you will be given the opportuntity to choose another species to support for the remainder of your adoption year.
• Adoption applies to a species at Edinburgh Zoo or the Highland Wildlife Park and not an individual animal.
• More than one person can be named on the adopter certificate; however adopters will only receive one adoption pack and one invitation to adopter events.
• Refunds cannot be given if adoption is cancelled mid-term.
• Names of adopters are listed at the animal enclosures for Silver to Platinum packages only.  Bronze adopters do not receive this benefit.
• We reserve the right to refuse admission and/or cancel adoption without refund if anyone behaves in a threatening or abusive way to our staff, contractors, vistiors or animals.
