Research interests
Jal is interested in the application of genetic tools in order to understand conservation issues and population management. He is also interested in reproductive biology as shown by his MSc project which was focused on detecting and analysing growing follicles in deer ovaries using immunohistochemistry technique.

Lab Assistant at University of North Sumatra for various practical modules (i.e. Biology, Genetics and Animal Histology & Anatomy).
Herbarium Technician at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, databasing and cataloguing plant specimens including herbarium collection conservation (2010-2013).

First wildcat kittens born at Saving Wildcats conservation breeding for release centre
Wildcat kittens, which will likely be among the first of their species to be released into the wild in Britain, have been born in the Saving Wildcats conservation breeding for release centre at our Highland Wildlife Park.
