23/12/2021 in Edinburgh Zoo
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has shared new images of eight-month-old Amara, an endangered pygmy hippo calf, with mum Gloria enjoying some festive fun at Edinburgh Zoo.
Amara, which means grace, was named earlier this year by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Made by visitors who attended the zoo’s Breakfast with the Clauses events, the Christmas crackers are filled with hay and monkey nuts, a firm favourite of the zoo’s hippos.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery support the wildlife conservation charity’s projects around the world and in the RZSS WildGenes laboratory.
