RZSS is involved in a variety of carnivore species projects. They range from supporting giant panda conservation in China to specialised captive breeding programmes for Amur leopards and Scottish Wildcats. This session discusses the threats that carnivores face in the wild and includes an interactive workshop that highlights the ways that zoos can help.
The session begins with an introduction to carnivores and the threats that they face, with information about RZSS and it's role. The group will have the opportunity to find out more about the conservation and to see what they would do to solve the problems in different areas of the world, including Amur Leopards Re-homing Dilemma: where should the Leopards be moved to? and Sun and Moon Bears: How can we help conservation and welfare of Bears in sanctuaries?
The session finishes with a tour of some of the species that have been talked about inside.
