Board member nominations

Members who wish to stand for election to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland board of trustees at the AGM must be nominated by a fellow member. Please note that members may not nominate themselves for election.

Completed forms should be returned to Dee Winfield via agm2026@rzss.org.uk by 12 noon on Wednesday 22 April and will be forwarded to the RZSS Nominations and Remuneration Committee for review.

To complement the skillsets of the current board members, we would be particularly interested to receive nominations for members with skills in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising expertise
• Human Resources management
• Financial management with Chartered Accountant qualification
• Relevant experience as an employee or trustee of another tourism, business or wildlife/conservation organisation

The duties and responsibilities of board members are substantial and it is recommended that potential candidates read the role description. It is important that candidates agree to be nominated in advance of their nomination being received.

Individuals who wish to go forward for election must submit a biography of up to 250 words and an accompanying statement of no more than 75 words highlighting the skills and experience they would bring to the board.

Nominees will be invited to talk to the members at the AGM for three minutes about the value they can bring to RZSS.

Successful candidates will also be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure (Scotland) check and an identification check, with their election being confirmed upon satisfactory completion of this process. RZSS will advise elected members on how to undergo these checks and reimburse any expenses incurred.

AGM resolutions

Members wishing to raise matters of policy or issues of concern can submit motions for discussion at the AGM. Any motions will be considered by the board.
