RZSS will achieve continual improvement in environmental performance through the annual setting and
review of environmental objectives and targets, specifically in the following areas:
- Ensuring the efficient use of energy, water and other resources and reducing emissions arising from energy and transport needs, using renewable resources where feasible.
- Continuing to minimise waste, prioritising re-using over recycling wherever possible.
- Ensuring continued legislative environmental compliance.
- Communicating and informing staff, visitors, volunteers and other stakeholders on relevant environmental issues, enhancing their understanding and encouraging responsible behaviours.
- Actively managing the biodiversity of all sites and mitigating the negative impacts of any future developments.
- Improving sustainable procurement practices throughout the society and encouraging suppliers and contractors to demonstrate similar responsibilities.
Through close cooperation with our employers, visitors, suppliers and sub-contractors, we aim to be a role
model and to set a new standard in environmental management within our field.
This will result not only in improved business operations, but contribute to safer, cleaner communities within a more sustainable Scotland.
