Genetic support for the fight against illegal wildlife trade
Our aim is to provide cutting-edge genomic assistance in the fight against Illegal Wildlife Trade.
The WildGenes lab has been pioneering the use of genetic data, in particularly the use of SNP data in wildlife crime enforcement. We are working on projects as diverse as Elephant ivory traceability in African and Asia, the fashion trade in snake skin, the pet trade and fisheries enforcement. We work alongside the RZSS IWT programme to deliver genomic data and technical genetic training for capacity building to where it is most needed.
