Comparative surgery, in particular minimally invasive "keyhole" surgery in all species of wildlife Native Scottish wildlife species conservation medicine, wildlife diseases, and rehabilitation. All aspects of captive and wild penguin species health, management, and nutrition. Wildlife veterinary capacity building.

Romain specialises in wildlife surgery, and particularly minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, having performed procedures, on species ranging in size from a gecko to a giraffe, in locations from Brazil to Vietnam.
